Domestic Violence Defense Edmonds WA
Domestic Violence Attorney, Marke Schnackenberg provides various criminal defense services. As a criminal defense attorney, I go to and visit numerous courts in different countries across our great state of Washington. I drive north, south, east, and west to find justice for my clients, who are many good persons that have unfortunately been targeted by the police or by a person that they know who has a personal interest in having them convicted of a crime: whether it is DUI, Domestic Violence, No Contact Order violations, Malicious Mischief, and even Theft in the Third Degree.
“I believe that justice is best if it is fair and blind to any biases about location or sometimes even the politics of a particular prosecutor’s office.”
There have been several times in my more than twenty years of criminal defense practice where I have seen prosecutors and judges figuratively try to jump down the throat of a person accused of Domestic Violence or Malicious Mischief or a violation of a No-Contact Order where the person was rude and uncooperative with the police during the arrest process and have had no criminal history in any domestic violence situation before. High bails and other onerous conditions are asked for and given to those unfortunate persons, which can often prevent them from going home to their family, seeing their children, and even going to work. The person is taken off to jail and loses their freedom when they are presumed innocent, but are treated like they are guilty!
As a criminal defense attorney, I effectively fight for and represent good individuals across our state, in the Cities of Lynnwood, Edmonds, Seattle, and Everett, the counties of King, Snohomish, and Pierce who have been charged with any crime and specifically the crimes of DUI, Domestic Violence, Theft, and Hit and Run.
Often, I stand with these good individuals in courts with prosecutors who are NOT interested in uniformly delivering justice for my clients. Please don’t misunderstand me here now. I am not saying that these prosecutors don’t want to seek justice. No, as I former prosecutor myself both for the City of Seattle and the State of Washington, I can say from experience that I believe that they are trying to seek justice. But, they want justice as it is defined in their prosecutor’s office and not as it is defined either in the area in which the court they work is in or to compare to the areas near and around where their office is located. Even after writing this I realize that is should be simply put to be better understood by you, my reader. And, that is, that prosecutors often do not see the whole picture in determining what IS a fair resolution for one of my client’s important cases. They don’t see that the result for the same charge may be, and is often, very different in a different court that might be as close as a block away or a few miles off! They don’t see this because they often don’t, I believe, have the understanding, knowledge, or interest to canvass the results that result from the same crime in a different near court.
But, I do and I take it upon myself to educate them and sometimes the courts where I travel to achieve equal justice under the law for my clients. I believe that justice is best if it is fair and blind to any biases about location or sometimes even the politics of a particular prosecutor’s office.
For example, the subject of Domestic Violence, Malicious Mischief, and Violations of No-Contact Orders comes to mind.
While all this is happening and likely to happen again, the same person in the same situation in a different court may be treated very differently by the prosecutor and the judge. They might, as I have often seen and have often argued for in the past twenty years, be released without the conditions of bail being slapped upon them and they can go home, to work, etc. My experience in visiting more than 25 different courts throughout the state of Washington gives me the understanding and the skill acquired to use a knowledge and understanding of what I do best.
As a criminal defense attorney, I effectively fight for and represent good individuals across our state, in the Cities of Lynnwood, Edmonds, Seattle, and Everett, the counties of King, Snohomish, and Pierce (for example) who have been charged with any crime and specifically the crimes of DUI, Domestic Violence, Theft, and Hit and Run.
This skill set continues to bring persons to seek my help and I welcome it and look opportunity to speak with you too. My office is conveniently located in the city of Lynnwood, Washington, next to the Lynnwood Police Station and Lynnwood City Court House.
